Travelogue # 2 | New York 1.0

September is New York Fashion Week time, and for us that means we are attending sales meetings, hooking up with friends, discussing new business opportunities, looking at new collections for Secret Society, and at the same time trying to get a picture of what's moving retail wise in New York. In beetween all of this, we try to socialize a bit, by attending some of the shows, and after-parties.

Below are some photos we shot to document our journey.

Come together

Japan meets the UK. Fashion meets pop. It's the king of collaborations that come together with the kings of pop.

It is Comme des Garcons versus The Beatles.

According to WWD, Comme des Garcons and Apple Corps Ltd will release a collection of bags, that will hit the store floors of Dover Street Market (London)and Gyro (Tokyo) in mid-November.

This is definitelly a monumental move for CdG.

Meet Cuan Hanly

"In a memorable scene on "Mad Men," the savvy Bobbie Barrett lays out her business plan. "This is America," she says. "Pick a job and become the person that does it." You could almost say that's how Cuan Hanly became the new designer for Jack Spade."

Head over to /valetmag.com for the full interview with Cuan Hanly.

WOMAN by Common Projects

It is official - Common Projects is about to release a collection for your girlfriend. We have known this for a while, and we have been anxious to see the outcome. Until now, we haven't seen or heard much, but yesterday we received the official press release from New York, and it reads:

Common Projects is pleased to anounce the launch of their frst full line of women’s shoes and accessories for spring summer 2010. The line, WOMAN by Common Projects, promises a range based on the brands ethos of simplistic luxury. Styles will range from their popular cult classic men’s Achilles and trainers to slip on brogues and women standards including fats, sandals and boots. The line follows in the footsteps of their Men’s classic footwear produced in the highest quality and incorporating their tailored design aesthetic. All articles are hand crafted with the finest materials in Italy.

We will receive the sample collection in a week or so, and hopefully we can show you more pictures soon. The shoes will hit the stores in Scandinavia next spring, presumably in a store near you.

Once again, Pratan and Flavio of Common Projects convince us that we are working with the numero uno sneaker brand there is. The shoes pictured above looks very much like the model Achilles, a style that almost always is present in every Common Projects collection. These versions are from a collaboration made with United Bamboo, and we don't know the exact name of the shoes, nor price or release date. All we know, is that they look stunning and we would most definitely be happy wearing them.

September greating,
